Post 7: Additional Pre-production Documentation

Location Recce
Below is a copy of our groups Location Recce, our main location was inside and just outside the Library.

Risk Assessment
We need to have a risk assessment in our group to identify any major risks within the process of filming and so that the cast and crew can avoid any injuries.

In our location, there are several risks such as if the fire alarm goes off then there are two fire exits in out location that we'd need to be aware of when filming, so if it does go off we can leave safely and promptly.

Walking in from outside of the library into the library there is a large mat on the floor, this is a hazard as one of us could trip over it and end up hurting ourselves or even breaking a piece of equipment if we are holding something. A way of overcoming this hazard is by making sure the mat is stuck down on the floor properly and be cautious when walking over it.

During filming there will be and are already quite a few lose wires on the floor in the library, if not careful one of us could trip over them so we need to make sure that not only are they out of the way of where we'll walk but if necessary they are tapped down.

If the tripod is not stood up correctly and the sides are not closed correctly then it could fall over during filming, and maybe even damage the camera. This hazard needs to be stopped by making sure the tripod is secure and making sure everybody knows what they're doing when in contact with the tripod.

Mise-en-Scene Description
 Set Design/Location:
The location for our group in our preliminary task of continuity is going to be inside the school library, with a short piece of filming just outside at the beginning, this is because we decided to go with the idea of having three girls who attend sixth form at school. As we decided to film in the school library we don't need to adjust the set design that much, all we need to do is place a table and three chairs for where the action will be taking place.

Props:
The props we will use during the process of our filming is a desk, three chairs, school equipment and a doctors letter. We'll use the desk and chairs so that each of the three of us can sit around the table, the school equipment is so that the idea of being at a school is achieved and the doctor's letter is what Charley will be holding, this is so the audience understand that she's pregnant in the short film.

Lighting:
In the library there are several lights on the ceiling, there is also alot of natural light coming in from the windows around the library, therefore there is already a fair amount of light coming into the library. If we needed any more light however then we could just make sure the artificial lights on the ceiling are switched on.

Character Movement:
There is a fair amount of character movement in the short film, the first being Charley outside the library, stopping and walking in. Following this is Bobbi calling her over to the table where she and Katie are sitting down, where Charley then joins them. Bobbi then leaves the table and walks out of scene which leaves Charley and Katie sat at the table where Charley then breaks the news. After this Charley and Katie are arguing and finally Charley gets up and runs out of the library. The character movement is similar to how teenage girls would act and behave therefore its very realistic.

Costume:
The costumes our group chose to wear resemble what teenage girls would normally wear to sixth form, not only does it do this but it also reflects the characteristics of the girl's personalities.
Charley will wear leggings, uggs, a top and cardigan, this shows her personality as a bit of a 'chav' which is what we wanted to get across.
Katie will wear a dress making her a 'girly girl' which is again what we wanted to get across to the audience.
Bobbi will wear chinos, a top and a cardigan, this is so that I don't stand out to the audience as I wasn't one of the two key characters that would have the argument.

Hair and Make Up:
Our hair and make up was as follows:
Charley: Tied back hair, with alot of make up on especially around her eyes symbolising the fact she'd previously been crying.
Katie: Straight hair down with natural make up.
Bobbi: Hair tied back with no make up on.
